The weather forecast this morning prevented us from hiking Heart Mountain as scheduled and we opted for the safer rainy weather option of C-Level Cirque. Fortunately, the weather was on our side for the third day in a row and we had a beautiful day on the mountain.
The C-Level Cirque trail is located on a former mining site and on the way up we got to explore an old mining shack and walked past many abandoned mining shafts. As we approached our lunch spot we were lucky enough to witness a marmot and several pikas in the boulder fields below the cirque.
After lunch, a small group continued to ascend to panoramic views overlooking Lake Minnewanka and encountered a grouse hiding her young chicks on the way back down the mountain.
We concluded the day with a brief tour of the town of Banff.
